Central Heating

Central heating is a system work by solar to heat the whole house, organization, or workplace.

It works to transfer the heating medium like; water, air, or steam to thermal power, so it's used to heat swimming pools.

Elements of central heating:

  1. Boiler: Which contains burner, pumps, and funnel.
  2. Radiator: Panels of light aluminum and types of pouring.
  3. Tank: On the house's roof to provide boiler with water.
  4. Tubes: Transform hot water from boilers to radiator.
  5. Fuel tank: Transforms fuels through tubes.

Types of central heating systems

  1. Open system: Has an air hole to ventilate the tubes through water provider tank.
  2. Closed system: Where water enters the boiler through pumps and never comes back again.

The open system is a way safer than closed one as water is being heating, stretching, then its density decreases, it moves to the top through tubes and then to rooms where thermal radiators heats and transmit this heat to water and air, which make thermal convection starting, so the whole room could be heated. And if the water cools, its density increases and lower down through tubes to the boiler, getting heated, and the whole process starts again.

Types of central heating:

1- Hot water central heating:

The most popular and using type in heating houses and swimming pools, It depends on water as a heating transmitting medium where water is heated in tubes network using recycling pumps and then distributed to heat exchangers to produce heat.

Advantages:

1- Low cost of installation and maintenance.

2- Produce healthy air for the room.

3- Ease of maintenance.

2- Hot air central heating:

Using air as an alternative medium to transmit heat, where the air is heating through independent internal/external complexes for heating.

Then air passes through air ducts and goes out to heat the room.

3- Steam central heating:

Using steam instead of water or air to transmit the heat, it's produced under different pressure rates until the water turns into steam and then go out to heat the room.

Swimming pools heating

There are 3 ways to heat a swimming pool:

1- Solar water heater:

- Small sized.

- Use solar to generate power.

- No running cost.

- Water is being flipped between the pool and the heater through the pump.

2- Heat pump:

  • Used in heating pools in sports squares.
  • Used when there can't be solar power to generate.
  • The pool keeps its temperature regardless of the weather.
  • Works by electricity.

3- Hot water boilers:

  • For the large swimming pools.
  • More efficient and effective.

House heater? Or central heating?

There're some places that central heating can't catch so many people buy small heaters to heat these certain places.

1- Thermal convection heater:

It requires to close the door when running it as it becomes more effective in closed areas. Although it spreads heat widely as it heats the used oil first to transform the liquid heat into the room in a form of heat or as it's called: thermal convection.

2- Thermal radiation heater:

It controls infrared rays and starts the process of warm-up which very effective with people who want warm in little hours, it doesn't make a sound, doesn't cost a lot, and depends mainly on air motion.

Underground central heating

Another effective type of heating called Thermae which consists of a network of pipes made of polo then under the floor at the place wanted to be heated, that network is installed before painting the floor and then the networks are being collected from different room in every floor, to be connected with a manifold battery which can control every room's thermostat separately.

Advantages:

  • Heating both floor and ceiling at the same time.
  • Effectiveness in spreading heat in the whole place; as the floor here works as a thermal radiator.
  • The ability to control every room separately.
  • Ease of room decoration changes; as it's under the floor, it doesn't take a place of the room.
  • Ease of installation, maintenance, and control.

Bathroom heater

It's placed inside your bathroom and has different types, sizes, and colors that fit your decoration.

  • Advantages:
  • Fast heating.
  • Low cost.
  • Ability to control the room's other heaters through it.
  • Ability to control temperature through its thermostat.
  • Ease of running and shutting down.
  • Ease of maintenance and change if necessary.

Disadvantages of central heating

Although all of these types and systems, and in case of using central heating for a long consistent period, it has disadvantages:

Central heating works on heating air to turn into air currents which in turn affects thermal convection reversely.

As long as our bodies temperature increases, It reversely affects our natural evaporation process. Which means hot air rises up to the cold ceiling, and that will make a very clear contrast in temperature of our both head and legs.

And about the traditional ways of heating like; gas, firewood, or hot air conditioner, will lead to generating more carbon monoxide instead of oxygen which could result in absorbing red blood cells fast, harm tissues, and may poison in places that have none air and closed.
